Greensboro Child Response Initiative - Greensboro, North Carolina In collaboration with North Carolina A&T State University’s Center for Behavioral Health and Wellness, the Greensboro Police Department is currently implementing the Greensboro Child Response Initiative in two of the four districts of Greensboro. Launched in 2008, the program has been supported by a variety of funding sources, including the Cone Health Foundation, the City of Greensboro, and the North Carolina Governors Crime Commission. A strong, multi-agency and interdisciplinary team of 10 local mental health providers with specific training in trauma treatment, as well as over 30 community agencies, make up the Guilford Trauma Provider Network. In September 2011, this group signed into action a joint Memorandum of Agreement to meet monthly to support the Greensboro Child Response Initiative and collaboratively address the needs of children exposed to violence and their families. Since its inception, the program has served over 1,600 youth and families and is expanding to additional districts in Greensboro in January 2012.
